At the eleventh annual meeting of the American Vegetarian Society held in Philadelphia, on the 19th of September 1860 this address was delivered by Dr. Russell T. Trail. At this time he regarded a Vegetarian diet as a necessary step in the right direction, a beginning of a true dietetic reform. Was man never intended to be the universal scavenger?
