1875 In the year 1874, Henry S. Olcott was engaged by the New York Daily Graphic to visit the Eddy Homestead in Chittenden, Vermont to report on the reputed supernatural happenings there. It seems that people were visiting this out of the way village, staying for a short period and departing with the firm belief that they had witnessed the materializations of their deceased loved ones. He was not welcomed, and was indeed skeptical about returning for further investigations. However, he persisted in his investigation and his detailed reports about the "Eddy Manifestations" were syndicated widely. This publication is divided into two parts; a detailed description of the happenings at the Eddy Homestead, and secondly, a report of a series of investigations into the materialization of John and Katie King at the séances held by the mediums Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Holmes in the time frame.
